Coming Soon!

I am so excited to have 557 Forest Street now up and running. Home to two artist's studios and the future site of The Window Project, 557 Forest will feature solo shows and installations by local and regional emerging artists in its newly rehabbed store front.

After a couple months of repairing everything from broken windows to plumbing, cleaning years of muck and yuck left behind by previous tenants and painting the interior, I am renewed by neighborhood excitement and inspired to start bringing art to our little piece of Oakland.

I've learned all sorts of things about the history of our unit and the block in the last few months. A long while back it used to be an upholstery store and then part of a thriving grocery and butcher shop that was the heart of the neighborhood in its time and even provided home delivery of goods.

Stay tuned for a new exterior paint job and signage as well as the first of our upcoming shows. A taste of what's coming soon......a diorama installation by talented Oakland based artist Kerri Lee Johnson!
